Beauty Tip Tuesday: Halloween Looks

Posted by on October 25, 2016

Wedding season is wrapping up and creativity is flowing! Our artists specialize in special occasion formal looks for hair and make up which includes bridal parties, gala attendees, photo shoots and everything in between. With so much buzzing talent, our team likes getting a little wild and pulling out some special effects tricks for Halloween looks.

Make Up Artist Jackie on our New York team loves to experiment with make up. Featured for her bridal make up and formal occasion talents, we asked Jackie to step out of the box with this week’s beauty tip adn talk about Halloween and how to create your own ghoulish look with products in your make up bag!

Create your own set of fake teeth using latex and fake nails!

Cut the nails down to whatever shape and size you want, paint them yellow or make them gritty looking. You can apply directly on to your face with latex and extend it to make it look like your teeth are sticking out. You can also use a hard plastic surface, pour two horizontal lines of latex to mimic front and bottom teeth and stick the fake nails into the latex mimicking the gums over the teeth.

After that dries, you can paint that gums whatever color you’d like and attach on top and bottom lip so you are able to move with latex. To blend edges more you can rip toilet paper up and apply to edges with latex and paint over with makeup when dried. This look below utilizes this technique for a super gory and very cool effect!

Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad is a huge costume for women this year. Create the signature look from the film by getting messy with red and blue eyeshadow! You can make this look gritty or keep it pretty by over applying product around the eyes and blending downward with a beauty blender or make up sponge. Finish with the signature pink lip and heart “tattoo” applied to last with eyeliner!

Jackie’s last look is a bronzed skeleton. Start by creating the base of lashes, eyebrows and creepy contacts. From there it’s reversed contouring – REALLY reversed! Use a dark black shadow or gel liner to begin outlining portions of your face you would normally highlight with contour cream or bronzer! From there it’s all about creating shadows and unnatural angles. You can’t go wrong! Jackie used Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Loose Pigments to create depth, shimmer and color in all other areas that had not been darkened!
