Beauty Tip Tuesday: Trial Prep

Posted by on October 4, 2016

A unique experience leading up to a big event such as a wedding is the trial. The trial is a special appointment at which the look desired is created by your hair stylist and make up artist so you have the first glimpse of what you will look like for your big day! What makes these trial appointments even more important is the extended time beyond a typical booking to include a full consultation with your artists so they can evaluate your skin type and hair type for the look that will be the best for you!

This week’s tips focus on key trial preparation our artists want you to know. Make Up artist and educator Anellyse, this week’s featured artist, offered her best tips for prepping for your trial.

Two Weeks Before:

Acne? Oily Skin? Dry Skin? A grapeseed oil works wonders for all skin types – YES, ALL! Start a regimen of using a grapeseed serum such as Rhonda Allison Grapeseed Hydrating Serum which acclimates skin to produce natural oils for a healthy glow and combat excess oils which cause acne and clogged pores.

One Week Before:

Screen_Shot_2016-10-03_at_5.07.27_PM.pngThis is the perfect time for a home treatment mask. Investing in a quality mask where a little goes a long way is key for maintaining balanced skin. GLAMGLOW Powermud Dualcleanse Treatment is suitable for any skin type and will leave your face feeling fresh, smooth, toned and rejuvenated. Used correctly, this mask can be used before any special event for a refreshed face!

Night Before:

Properly cleanse your face with a mild product according to your skin type and maintain your moisturizing regimen. This is not the time to try anything new! Be sure to drink plenty of water and sleep to wake up with that fresh, glowing face!

Day of Your Trial!

Clean, dry hair and a clean face!

It is a complete myth that dirty hair holds a style better. In fact, unwashed hair holds more oils which build up when product is added and weighs down curls. Clean, dry hair will allow the artist to build the product best suited for your hair and allow the style to hold all day and night. Similarly, a clean face will provide the same canvas needed for the make up artist to prime and apply product so the end result will be smooth and flawless.

Most importantly..

Have your inspiration ready! Make sure you have narrowed down your looks for the big day. Choosing one or two pictures featuring models with similar hair and skin type will allow the artist to recreate based off your own facial features and hair texture.

Stay tuned this Thursday  October 6th as we document and even go LIVE for a trial with Anellyse and Ashley Stone to get some extra tips and see what a bridal trial really looks like!
